    Anne Green

Vice President, Philanthropy Strategy and Research

I believe the most powerful way we can improve outcomes for learners is by using data to better understand their journeys and by turning those insights into decisions that help more students succeed. I joined the National Student Clearinghouse because I believe it plays an essential role in supporting all learners and the institutions that serve them through its data and research.

Ms. Green is a leader at the intersection of education, philanthropy, and strategy, with more than 25 years of experience helping organizations translate ambitious goals into measurable impact. In her leadership role at the National Student Clearinghouse, she works to strengthen the use of education data to improve student outcomes and advance postsecondary success nationwide.

Previously, Ms. Green was Managing Director at Arabella Advisors, where she led the firm’s West Coast practice and partnered with institutional, corporate, and family foundations to turn strategy into action. She advised major philanthropies on grantmaking strategies, organizational design, and partnerships that advanced education, economic mobility, and other social impact initiatives.

Ms. Green has held several leadership roles at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. She served on the Postsecondary Success leadership team as Advisor to the Director, helping manage strategic initiatives focused on improving postsecondary access and success. She also served as Senior Officer of Risk, supporting the foundation’s Executive Leadership Team in identifying and managing enterprise-wide risks.

Before joining the Gates Foundation, Ms. Green worked as a consultant supporting corporate, private, and family foundations across the Pacific Northwest. Her work included designing and launching national grantmaking initiatives, building strategic partnerships, and advising on communications and policy strategies. Her clients included organizations such as REI, Safeco Insurance, the David and Lucile Packard Foundation, the Paul G. Allen Family Foundation, and the Russell Family Foundation.

Earlier in her career, Ms. Green served as Director of Grantmaking at the Benton Foundation in Washington, DC, where she launched national initiatives focused on communications access and equity. She began her career as legislative counsel at People for the American Way.

Ms. Green lives in Seattle with her family and is a member of the Washington Women’s Foundation and on the board of the Holocaust Center for Humanity. She holds a JD from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a BA with honors from Wellesley College.
