National Student Clearinghouse Announces Updates to Executive Leadership Team

New Chief Product Officer Andrew Martelli Joins Clearinghouse on October 13, Melba Amissi Promoted to Chief Customer and Operations Officer

HERNDON, VA  (October 13, 2025) – The National Student Clearinghouse announced updates today to its executive leadership team, including the hiring of Andrew (Andy) Martelli as Chief Product Officer, and the promotion of Melba Amissi to Chief Customer and Operations Officer, both newly created roles.

Martelli, who starts in the role on October 13, 2025, has spent over 30 years operating at the intersection of product innovation, business operations, and strategic growth. He joins the Clearinghouse from his previous role as Chief Product and Technology Officer at Kira Talent, where he led the company’s technological vision, overseeing product development, engineering, and cross-functional strategy.

Prior to Kira Talent, Martelli served as Chief Operating Officer at The Center for Transformative Teaching and Learning, where he directed operations, shaped organizational strategy, and managed key technology partnerships. He has also held senior leadership roles at the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) and CEB (now part of Gartner), as well as at other notable institutions.

“I’m excited to welcome Andy Martelli to the Clearinghouse as our Chief Product Officer,” said Clearinghouse President and CEO Dr. Daniel Hae-Dong Lee. “His leadership will ensure that our product development efforts are guided by market intelligence, institutional priorities, and a clear and disciplined roadmap. In addition, Andy will play a pivotal role in elevating our Philanthropy, Research, and Custom Research initiatives, driving impactful collaborations and innovative solutions that benefit our stakeholders.”

As Chief Product Officer, Martelli will lead Clearinghouse’s product strategy for both secondary and postsecondary institutions. The organization currently serves nearly 3,600 higher education institutions, over 22,000 K–12 schools, and 43 states, providing a comprehensive suite of services that includes verification, data exchange, learner insights, and compliance support.

“I’m thrilled to join the National Student Clearinghouse at such a pivotal moment. As the trusted source for secure, authenticated education data, the Clearinghouse sits at the intersection of education and the workforce. I’m excited to work with the organization and turn trusted data into even more dynamic, actionable insights—advancing products and partnerships that expand opportunities for learners and the institutions that serve them,” Martelli said.

Martelli holds a B.S. in Imaging Science from the Rochester Institute of Technology and an M.B.A. in Analytical Consulting, Competitive Strategy, and Marketing from Northwestern University. Martelli’s passion for data-driven innovation, combined with his extensive experience in higher education, uniquely positions him as a key leader in advancing the Clearinghouse’s mission to become the premier resource for education and workforce data, insights, and lifelong learner enablement.

The Clearinghouse also announced that Melba Amissi has been promoted to Chief Customer and Operations Officer (CCOO), and Martelli will collaborate closely with Amissi to advance the organization’s mission of delivering exceptional value to its stakeholders.

In her current role, Amissi drives enterprise-wide initiatives that reinforce the organization’s operational foundation and enhance client engagement. Through her strategic leadership and disciplined execution, she ensures every interaction upholds the Clearinghouse’s standards of quality, responsiveness, and innovation. In her expanded role, Amissi will also lead transformative changes, aligning internal systems to deliver seamless, high-impact service to both education and workforce communities.

“Melba has a unique talent for turning strategy into action, and in her role as Chief Customer and Operations Officer, she’ll ensure that every client experience reflects our deep commitment to excellence. By bringing together key functions under her proven leadership, we’re positioned to deliver seamless, impactful service to our entire client community,” Dr. Lee shared.

Amissi, who joined the Clearinghouse in May 2023, brings 20 years of experience operations and regulatory compliance in the financial services industry. She specializes in developing strategies and executing plans designed with a focus on customers, fostering growth, and driving operational efficiencies. She also brings experience in supporting compliance with regulations and third-party requirements, risk management, and consumer privacy. Her expertise also includes advertising, marketing, product development, and the management of sensitive data.

Amissi earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from Randolph Macon Women’s College and a Master of Business Administration from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business.
