Watch a Recap of the Clearinghouse-SmartResume Webinar

During a recent webinar, staff from the National Student Clearinghouse and SmartResume showcased mobility, credentials exchange and how institutions fill gaps between the learners’ academic achievements and career skills. The Clearinghouse and SmartResume are working together to make it easy for learners throughout the nation to create Comprehensive Learner Records, while also connecting employers with diverse job talent in a new way. The new partnership brings the rich data in Myhub into a resume that gets noticed by employers.

The Myhub platform, which is FERPA compliant, provides an educational digital wallet containing verified credentials empowering learners with a single, secure location to curate all achievements from a variety of sources. By merging the records in Myhub with the traditional resume format, users and employers benefit for several reasons:

  1. A SmartResume populated with Myhub content provides employers a clear picture of the information they genuinely care about: what a job applicant can do today, and what they can quickly learn to do once hired. In a competitive hiring environment, employer want to move quickly to identify those candidates who certainly have the core education, training, and competencies that are needed to perform in a particular job role. For example, an applicant may have a general knowledge of coding, but if they have the potential to learn and implement new skills quickly, they are more likely to be granted an interview. Being able to verify Myhub credentials on a SmartResume allows an employer to identify and recruit talent with more confidence.
  2. The records in Myhub merged with SmartResume helps to match the search criteria employers use when reviewing resumes.Even in today’s world of labor shortages, employers still complain about too many job applications. Applying online is so easy that hiring managers are often overwhelmed, and quality applicants get missed by recruiters. Myhub and SmartResume enable educators to contribute powerful content to a learner’s resume, to bring more data to the table so employers have better tools to discover job seekers.
  3. Myhub users are guided through the resume creation process by a virtual career counselor.Jobseekers who create a SmartResume receive detailed instructions on building a certified SmartResume that represents them in the best light. SmartResume guides learners through the resume creation process and recommend content they can add to their resume in addition to the verified credentials from Myhub. By merging the contents of a traditional resume, with the contents of a Comprehensive Learner Record, a more complete picture of an individuals’ talent can be assembled.

The Clearinghouse is working to bring even more value to Myhub — and SmartResume — in the future by reviewing the opportunities to incorporate industry credential certifications into a learner’s achievement portfolio. We have built the data infrastructure that supports collecting these types of certifications as well as collecting noncredit course information from colleges and universities, since there is a strong correlation between certificates, certifications, and noncredit course work.

The ultimate objective of Myhub is to empower learners to use their learning and employment records to achieve their career and life goals. Watch a recap of the webinar, Connect Your Learners’ Records to Employment Pathways, to learn more about helping your students succeed!
