Comparing PDP and IPEDS Metrics
The Postsecondary Data Partnership (PDP) and the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) are both important reporting systems in higher education, each serving unique purposes. While both collect valuable data on student success, their focuses differ fundamentally. The PDP is a student-centered system, whereas IPEDS is institution centered. Because some student success metrics overlap between these systems, it’s natural to assume their values will align, but often they do not. This workshop explores the reasons behind these differences and provides guidance on when to use each system effectively.
