Welcome to the tutorial on SSCR error code 35.

Per the NSLDS, SSCR error code 35 is caused by a Leave of Absence that exceeds 180 days.

SSCR error code 35 occurs when a leave of absence exceeds 180 days. A school’s policy may allow a leave of absence to go longer, however per the FSA handbook; a leave of absence cannot exceed 180 days in any 12-month period. To resolve SSCR error code 35, update the student to a withdrawn status with an effective date either one day before or one day after the leave began. If a student returns from a leave of absence, update the student’s record to reflect the current term enrollment.

Now we will go over how to review and correct a student's record.

Under the ‘NSLDS Reporting’ tab, the most recent report's at the top of the list. Click on the hyperlinked number under the ‘# of Students with Errors’ column to access the list of students with errors.

This will bring you to the list of students with errors. Click on the hyperlinked SSN for the student with error code 35 that needs to be corrected.

The next page will show the student’s editable record. Update the enrollment status and status effective date to reflect a withdrawn status with an effective date one day before or one day after the leave began if the student did not return from the leave. If the student returned from the leave, update the enrollment status and status effective date to reflect the student’s current term enrollment. After updating the student record as needed, click the green ‘Submit’ button to send the record to the Clearinghouse for processing.
