Transcript Ordering June 2021 Release Notes

Jun 9, 2021 | Transcript Ordering

The National Student Clearinghouse is excited to announce the launch of a new transcript service, Third-Party Ordering for Registrars!

Third-Party Ordering for Registrars

This new service enables registrars, who have a signed student consent meeting FERPA consent requirements, to log onto the Clearinghouse secure site to order transcripts from their institution on behalf of their students.

  • Your institution must be active with Transcript Ordering and the new “Transcript Registrar Ordering” role added to the user profile of the “Registrar” staff member to use Third-Party Ordering for Registrars. The new field appears when orders are viewed and on some reports.
  • The transcript can be sent to anyone the student wants to receive it and you can choose any delivery method your school offers to your students and alumni on the public ordering site.
  • Orders placed via Third-Party Ordering for Registrars are included in all your reports and can be easily identified by their “Registrar” requestor type.
  • You can opt to enable students to receive status updates via email.

All orders placed via Third-Party Ordering for Registrars require signed student consent (meeting the FERPA consent requirements), although the consent form does not need to be uploaded during the request. However, when placing the order, the user must verify that written student consent has been received. Consent forms may be requested by the Clearinghouse for auditing purposes.

To learn how to access and use Third-Party Ordering for Registrars, please see the Transcript Ordering Schools User’s Guide on the Transcript Services tab of the Clearinghouse secure site.

If you are experiencing issues with your service, you can check on the availability of our online system on the Service Availability Status page.
