Infographic Demonstrates High School Demographics Impact on College Success
The 2016 High School Benchmarks Report: National College Progression Rates reveals major gaps between low-income and higher income high school students in both post-graduation college enrollment and college degree attainment. This finding is also illustrated in the newest infographic from the Clearinghouse, which also shows how the enrollment and attainment gaps are even wider when comparing schools with high poverty vs. low poverty levels.
The data covers public and private high schools from all 50 states and from the majority of the 100 largest districts in the United States. It includes more than 25 percent of all public high school graduates each year, or nearly five million graduates in total.
