DEI DATA LAB
A COLLABORATIVE TO ADVANCE STUDENT OUTCOMES
Learn, share, and collaborate to give all students an equal opportunity to earn a degree. The National Student Clearinghouse® created the DEI Data Lab to share our nation-leading data on higher education, highlight evidence-based solutions, and encourage problem-solving partnerships.
The starting point in measuring — and ultimately achieving — equity in higher education is enrollment. No one can attain a degree without first getting access.
Persistence is the best metric we have for understanding whether specific groups of students are staying in school. This measure gauges how many students return to college at any institution for their second year.
Rates of degree attainment are the final internal check on institutional equity. Completion rates track the credentials students earn within six years after they first enroll in a college or university.
