On May 21, 2019, Federal Student Aid (FSA) and the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) posted an update on the College Scorecard, which emphasizes how important it is to correctly report historical program-level data.

As your third-party servicer, the National Student Clearinghouse reports your enrollment data to NSLDS via the NSLDS Enrollment Roster Response process. Our process includes robust front-end validation to ensure the accurate, comprehensive and timely reporting of your enrollment and compliance-related student data to NSLDS. A corresponding student record review is also provided in the unlikely event a record response is rejected by NSLDS.

If you are concerned that the data used by NSLDS in the College Scorecard for your institution is  inaccurate or incomplete, we encourage you to leverage the NSLDS Enrollment Reporting Graduated Programs Report (SCHEP4), which is described in NSLDS Newsletter 62. If you determine you want to correct data you previously reported to the Clearinghouse, please contact our Compliance and Data Operations team at 703.742.4200 (select options #7, #2) or SchoolOps@studentclearinghouse.org.

IMPORTANT: We strongly advise that you NOT make updates directly in NSLDS without first consulting the Clearinghouse. Doing so could result in unnecessary NSLDS SSCR Enrollment Roster errors and longer-term issues, including creating lasting data discrepancies between your institution’s SIS, NSLDS and the Clearinghouse database. You should also be aware that adjustments to historical program information in NSLDS can impact student subsidies and student financial aid servicing.

For assistance in addressing concerns associated with historical data, please contact our Compliance and Data Operations team at 703.742.4200 (select options #7, #2) or SchoolOps@studentclearinghouse.org.
